Homeless "Overrun" Lava Centers in Pahoa and Keaau - Old Croc - 07-16-2018 An exaggeration perhaps? http://hawaiifreepress.com/ArticlesDailyNews/tabid/65/ID/21978/July-12-2018-News-Read.aspx RE: Homeless "Overrun" Lava Centers in Pahoa and Keaau - alaskyn66 - 07-16-2018 Sadly, Lower Puna Has its share of suicidal people, sexual predators, drug addicts, alcoholics, hermits..etc. There is no way of knowing if the story is within the borders of 'real news' or not. chronically homeless people typically like to be closer to agencies that can provide for them.. So I wouldnt think there are that many living in lower puna.. as its a long haul to salvation army.. etc, in Hilo. RE: Homeless "Overrun" Lava Centers in Pahoa and Keaau - leilanidude - 07-16-2018 It is true. They are playing up the evacuation, taking resources from everyone from the Red Cross to filing false FEMA apps, grabbing the food and water from the various donation centers, etc. While I normally wouldn't mind them getting food and water - they are lying about their status to get "free stuff", some of which is then being sold/traded for drugs and alcohol. The shelters gather many of them together in a single location. Lava-palooza. A bird flies home across the sky. It appears to be tired, it had a difficult day. It returns from the hunt, it was hunted. - Laszlo Krasznahorkai RE: Homeless "Overrun" Lava Centers in Pahoa and Keaau - dan d - 07-16-2018 Just a heads up all persons have had to show proof of loss of home or rental to use the Facilities Dan D HPP RE: Homeless "Overrun" Lava Centers in Pahoa and Keaau - Allenl - 07-16-2018 My neighbor is staying at the shelters. Not a damn thing wrong with her house. Can't beat someone else cooking 3 square meals a day for you. She was also first in line at FEMA and got a few grand for her unpermitted structure that's been leaning a few inches for the last year. And this is in an entirely unaffected subdivision between Leilani and Kalapana. I can sure see why someone would deliberately give up their private bathroom, bed, house, and food, to go eat homeless food, sleep in a homeless shelter, on homeless beds. That makes a lot of sense. RE: Homeless "Overrun" Lava Centers in Pahoa and Keaau - Allenl - 07-17-2018 Not sure if that was sarcasm. But I assure you I'm not joking. When you live in an 8x8 box with a mattress (no electricity, hense no refrigerator so very little food on hand), then hot showers, free meals, access to laundry, electricity, cell service is like staying at the Hilton for many of these people. They are soaking up all the freebies.
