When and WHERE will it pop up next? Guesstimates - ElysianWort - 08-20-2018
Okay so reading from another thread and people guessing that it will pop up in about 5 years? The 1955 flow was similar to this one and then another flow happened in 1960. Does that mean to expect one in year 2022?
How about the where factor? By that time will fissure#8 be completely cooled and lava channel blocked off? Are we to expect another Leilani Estates eruption?
Will the magma surface further up the riff zone like PBmaise was saying?
Or further down in the LERZ? Where is a safe place besides Kohala? [:p] Exciting living on this hot rock!
The way I see it, our guess is just about as good as HVO's guess/prediction.

I’m quite certain it WON’T erupt in my neighborhood. Where I live. I’m so sure, I’m willing to bet my home and yard on it.

Yeah Rob true. Except the whack-a-mole part and stuffed animals.
Notice the title has the word, "guesstimate" in there?
That sort of announces the speculation so that it isn't a surprise and people don't start evacuating when their subdivision pops up in the guesstimates.
As I've seen our guesses seem as good as HVO. I learn more from Puna Web than HVO too.
Finally I was thinking about a cookie as a prize not a worthless non-biodegradable stuffed animal.
What no guess for you Mr. Moderator?

One the other thread I posed this as a question rather than a prediction because….the only thing that is consistent with these eruption patterns is that there is no consistency.

But then, no one knows what she's going to do next, when she's going to do it, or where.

County's mismanagement is pretty consistent, but that's not the volcano's fault.
