I see where the budget is $524 million a new high. The council is spending all the new money from the new get surcharge just not the property tx part that they lost from the lava. This on top of the 12million dollars the state gave them. What doe you think of this. I think we are in trouble this council and the mayor will tax out of are homes. We just put 2 new members on the council who said was all right to taxes us more wait until they sworn in and see what happens.

The County Council is scheduled to approve Bills 168 and 169 on first reading Wednesday. The bills shuffle money out of the general fund to put into the transportation fund for mass transit and roads, while creating a special fund where money from the GET will be deposited once collections begin.

the counties of Hawaii, Kauai, and Maui will receive $1.5 million from the Federal Transit Administration to purchase or lease new zero or low-emission transit buses.

How much does one of these new 0 emmision buses cost? 1.5 million doesn't seem like very many buses!
