The Other Big Island Tomato Farm For Sale - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 09-06-2018

A few years ago Richard Ha shut down his tomato and cucumber business. Kawamata Farms is the remaining big island producer for local fresh tomatoes, and now their farm is up for sale.

At $8,500,000, 18 bd, 8 ba, 7,800 sf living, 16.96 ac land they may have a limited number of potential buyers. Let's hope they find someone - - we need all the locally produced food we can get:

If you have $8 million why the hell would you want to be a farmer

Money laundering?

16 acres for 8.5 million.

That gets you closer to 9,000 acres of God's country in Montana: https://www.landsofamerica.com/property/8512-acres-in-Powder-River-County-Montana/5571547

Then again, ranching and tomatoes are vastly different businesses. Though I think there is more money in ranching.

Clearly the Hawaii property needs to be bought as a labor of love.

Are they giving up to become marijuana farmers too like Ha? Or should I say: are they selling to go on a waiting list for a DECADE to one day in the distant future become a Pot farmer like Richard Ha?

The current regulations will make it impossible for Ha or anyone else to turn a profit or compete with the black market, so I'm guessing no.
