We have noticed them in out wood chip piles , and i have a super healthy hive. I tested for varomites and only got 1 in a sample of 1 cup of bees,so maybe that helps?

or the alien invasive bees? The Western Honey Bees...

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha

Fascinating articles.I once was driving from hilo up saddle but before maunakea turn off
And fo at least 2 miles had swarms of bees bounce off my windshield.I havent seen that since driving the San Juacin valley in 1980. I wasnt an appiarist at the time unfortunately.

I agree with trying to grow moreof the indigenous bees. But if we didnt have what you call " all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... "
You wouldnt have any local fruit to put in your own invasive species mouth. ( that was a funny)Since we are all invasive here,lol
i have a spare hive,help me find a way to fill them with local bees,
I would love it.We can share the honey with da punawebers

Pretty general and out of date article ,sorry. I know most the apiarist on this side and when Pele first blew ,they all moved there hives.

From a short look around for info on Hawaiian Yellow-faced bees:
They are solitary ground nesters.
They do not form colonies like the domestic honeybee does.
In our area their probable greatest threat is the LFA.
The state/county recommended control methods for LFAs are likely to also be very harmful to the endemic bees as well as the domestic bees.
Not much useful info seems to be known/available about the Hawaiian Yellow-faced bees yet.

I assume the carpenter bee, also a solitary nester, is also invasive?
Their size makes them a good lilikoi pollinator.
In my quick look around, I see nothing that seems to indicate the domestic bee is a threat to the native bees.

I heard the same thing. The smaller honeybee isn't able to pollinate the passion flowers. Carpenter bee (invasive), passionfruit vine (invasive).
I've said this before: Some invasive species can be a good thing.
