Just a note from the field:
Every plant has a life span. A little extra stress such as lava gas or hurricane rain can unexplainably shorten it. While it is still healthy, plant another one. Knowing how to propogate your own plants is a key.
(lots of talk herein about this years strangeness to the fruit trees--maybe should replant NOW)
