we are coming to puna soon i come from cuba and my wife puerto rico we lived in miami for 5 yrs and are tired of the polotics (if you cuban you know what i mean) i was 18 when i left cuba and i looking for my paradise again.Hawaii is the only place left for us in this country i hope this is the place in cuba we are called guajiro or jibaro that is people who live off the land and take only what we need it sound like a lot of people in puna are like that OJALA

You'll have to meet Sonia & anthony who write for the HIJ every few issues. Sonia immigrated (essentially fled) with her then 5 yr old son from Cuba when Castro came to power.
(Sonia is also the moderator for the Hawaii island Freecycle group!)

Good luck to you on your new home! Once in Oahu, waiting for a plane connection, I met a young man from Mexico, headed to Kona for the coffee harvest, a lovely younger person, full of life! One day he too hopes to make the move permanent!

well we will rent when we get there we come in june i am a plumber for 14 yrs and in moving there what i am looking for can only be explained in feelings not words as latinos and caribenos we have a certain passion in life that i never realized until i left my island the american dream can be a tricky one and i see how people could lose there self thinking that they are reaching it. i come from a simple place and i need that again but i also to look out my window and see palmas and feel the sun and smell the rain and feel a peace that only comes from a tropical place and when i herd you have coquis i was hooked (even though you dont like them)

Kiko Bienvenido, yo espero que tu y su familia encontrará su paraíso, y su segunda casa. Yo también soy cubano y estaré haciendo Hawaii mi hogar. Vivo actualmente en Nueva York pero tengo un hogar que nos aguarda. Espero en julio o agosto temprano que vendremos. ¡Y Cubanishi yo no puedo creer tu eres de Guines!! Nací también allí.
