How much state income tax (not GET) paid by Big Island residents actually comes back to the Big Island? Is there a way to find this out?

Consider: any "neighbor" island who feels that they're not getting "their fair share" could lobby for an audit, or maybe crunch the numbers on their own to come up with an educated guess.

I'm not aware of any such effort. Nor would those results (or even the existence of an investigation) necessarily be shared with the public.

It's part of "go along to get along". Remember, it could always be worse. Nice share of the TAT you have there, would be a shame if anything happened to it....

Revenue that goes to the state from income tax, TAT, and GET gets put together in the same pot, so you can't really separate it out.

I'll bet you Harry Kim could tell you to the penny.

Why cant I mail my GET return and N11 to the same place, then?

Anyway, to take this a step further, how about Hawaii’s “share” of federal taxes?

Sorry just kidding. You can stop laughing now!

Foe every dollar from Hawaii the Island that goes to Oahu and the

( general Fund ) ....................

This island gets back between 6 as in SIX to 7 SEVEN cents back as in PENNIES on the dollar in 1990 green backs.

This goes back to plantation days and territorial days or the KINGS days .

Not many on this board are young enough to remember this era but our ohana is .

It could be worse ......................

Not sure what you mean. They just go to different PO boxes at the Department of Taxation, because different people process the forms. The actual money gets mixed together.

Don't know about GET, but you can e-file form N-11 online and it's free. N-1 is also free for e-filing but I haven't tried it yet. Plan to do it next month.

Edited: spelling.

Mimosa, if that’s true, I’m amazed.
