This story made the Hawaii News Now headlines this morning:

"A woman living there told the fire department that she was using a propane torch to exterminate ants and might’ve accidentally set pallets on the fire."
I'll mark that one off my list of ant control methods. The structures destroyed were described as “improvised and unpermitted.”

The whole idea does seem silly.. personal loss aside. I would have never thought to use fire for anything other than cooking my dinner. Do weed burners or whatever work for prowlers and such too?
