The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - Guest - 04-18-2008 I figured I'd open a whole new thread on just this road alone. I read in the paper that there was a meeting yesterday on proposed Keaau-Pahoa Road improvements. Did anyone attend? I noticed they set up This website, however, I can't get the minutes to open up. Can anyone else get the minutes to open up or was anyone at the meeting? When you go to the FAQs there is nothing listed. And when you go to the Contact Us page, there is no contact name. Anyone here on Punaweb affiliated with this? *edit* I did find a contact on the calendar ------- The more we speak up... the more they will listen. RE: The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - JerryCarr - 04-18-2008 Damon's link is to a State Department of Transportation site. They have never been seriously interested in getting public feedback on this project, so why would we be surprised that the FAQs or contact functions don't work? They have these meetings because they are more or less required to. What they are apparently NOT required to do is pay attention to citizen input. Stepping down from soapbox, Jerry RE: The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - Carey - 04-18-2008 Hubby went (I was getting ready for our Earth Day set up - Man were there a tone of people there...) Main thing he came away with is no one seemed to like the Makuu Market stoplight going in before the main streets (it was not as much against the market light...exempt that that is a business... but more why there & not at the residential streets that have more week long traffic...) RE: The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - JerryCarr - 04-18-2008 The Makuu Association has a lot of political pull due to its Hawaiian Homelands and Office of Hawaiian Affairs connections. A lot of people questioned the priority of putting scarce resources into a one morning per week problem, but sometimes ethnic politics trumps practicality. At least people spoke out. Cheers, Jerry RE: The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - Dave Smith - 04-19-2008 I believe the improvement slated for Makuu Market is a left-turn pocket lane. RE: The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - Rob Tucker - 04-19-2008 Dave is correct. It is a left turn lane and is budgeted at $650,000. RE: The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - Carolann R - 04-19-2008 haaaa..haaaa...haaa....oh my. It never ceases to amaze me - the staggering cost of civilization. Did they add some more money to this already ridiculous price tag? ------- The more we speak up... the more they will listen. RE: The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - Royall - 04-20-2008 Oh, they just forgot to add Scott's wages to the project[ ![]() Even if they were to widen 130 to four lanes there will still be a slow traffic problem. People will still get into the left lane and drive 45 next to the other car.....[:0] "they're driving with aloha" and don't care if the traffic is piling up behind causing them to do doing crazy things to get around[ ![]() Royall What goes around comes around! RE: The Keaau to Pahoa Road *edit* Website - gtill - 04-20-2008 Your tax dollars probaby aren't paying enogh for all the improvments! I propose special unmarked Laser equipped speed control vehicles from Volcano-Hilo & Keaau-Pahoa-Kapoho! 24/7 giving tickets, with bonus for the most given! Within 6 months,we probably wouldn't need the road expanded, but the busses will be full and the crazies walking! Drivers cause most of the problem, this way they pay directly for it! |
