Resolution about climate change - dan d - 10-18-2019 VIDEO: Chair Chung Says Its “Too Late” On Climate Crisis Seems like its to late BIVN TODAY HPP RE: Resolution about climate change - macuu222 - 10-18-2019 Regardless of your stance on climate change... George does have a valid point. https://www.facebook.com/thescoop.us/videos/2114113948895022/ RE: Resolution about climate change - Durian Fiend - 10-18-2019 I'm inclined to agree with Chung. We can still make a difference though, slow it down a bit. RE: Resolution about climate change - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 10-18-2019 self-serving bloviation... Which just adds to overall CO2 emissions. Everyone commenting has a point. It is too late. Making a small effort will help. When we get desperate enough, the temporary for-profit method of cooling the earth will get trotted out across the airwaves and bandwidths - - geoengineering can cool the earth's atmosphere with calcium carbonate. In a future when summer heat and ocean temps reach high enough thresholds, even the most crunchy granola anti gmo shopper at Island Naturals in Pahoa will say, "hey, it's cool, they say calcium carbonate is organic, right?" https://www.businessinsider.com/harvard-scientists-to-release-chemicals-into-sky-in-2019-to-cool-earth-2018-12 RE: Resolution about climate change - TomK - 10-18-2019 My suggestion for the next thing the Hawaii County Council should consider is the gender of the first person to step on Mars. If they can't do that, then discuss the first person to go back to the moon. These are very important issues and should clearly outweigh anything that matters to people on the island. RE: Resolution about climate change - Durian Fiend - 10-19-2019 The general reaction seems to be quite cynical. Fair enough, though if you see the price of gasoline/propane/electric grid power spike locally in the next few years due to higher taxes levied on these products don't say you weren't warned. RE: Resolution about climate change - geochem - 10-19-2019 quote: Higher taxes??? if only... Look at what they are trying to pull in Honolulu: the City Council wants to outlaw gas water heaters... I'm sure that the narrative is that they are saving the environment, but the reality is that they are supporting monopoly control by HECO and the solar industry (who I am sure haven't made any contributions to the re-elections of the Council members supporting this bill)... And if it happens there, we are next... RE: Resolution about climate change - kalakoa - 10-19-2019 in Honolulu: the City Council wants to outlaw gas water heaters... Solar hot water was already required, but by some "amazing coincidence" every single exemption request was approved. Higher taxes??? Just sit back and let the magic of a free market do its thing. It will be pretty amusing when there's nobody left to flip burgers and clean toilets.
