Massive bombing runs on Mauna Kea just concluded - macuu222 - 12-01-2019

Massive B-52 bombing runs and explosions on top of Mauna Kea during this 10 day training operation with many more to come. Yet 3 miles down the road ...protesters wont allow access to Mauna Kea because it's sacred. Seems to me if they were truely worried about Mauna Kea...they should be protesting and blocking the road to Pohakuloa military base.

Were the B-52’s loaded with a telescope? Or 15000 pounds of bombs? Because a telescope is the clear and present danger.

i would be very surprised if the bombers were dropping live bombs with troops that close by. more than likely they were using laser guided smart bombs without the "boom". The troops/artillery are definitely using live rounds though.

smart bombs

Yes.
It’s a coordinated training between units so it’s unlikely the B-52’s carried a Dr. Strangelove payload, or even regular conventional weapons.

But we’ve heard so much about whether or not something has “military applications” over the last few years, and I believe a B-52, full or empty, was built specifically with military applications in mind. And there they were, flying right over the heads of the protectors. Perhaps the sound of 8 jet engines (each) barreling across the skies of Mauna Kea drowned out the protectors protests?

Bombing runs by massive bombers but I wouldn't call a bombing run by 2 bombers a massive bombing run.

The protesters should read that article so they will see the future of the Hawaiian Kingdom if they were able to run the USA out of Hawaii,
Speaking Chinese would be in their future.
Got a chant for that ?

Where the info on the B52s come from. because I have heard that **** before and every body on the island would be hiding under the bed

Incorrect! Nothing in the article states this. While PTA has some lands on the Mauna Kea (North) side of Hwy 200. All downrange activity (i.e. Artillery, Tank, and Air Support targets) are on the Mauna Loa (South) side of Hwy 200 far from the Hwy or any civilians.

It’s desecration according to a Jim Albertini:

Ongoing Military Desecration of Aina at Pohakuloa and increasing war tensions with China & Russia

During the exercise, Pacific Air Forces conducted its first laser “spot track” between an Army RQ-7B Shadow drone and a B-52 targeting pod.

“Being able to practice close air support with B-52 bombers dropping over 15,000 pounds of high explosives while running alongside our Army brethren in a company movement with attack aviation to the left and active artillery to the right, provided numerous lessons to myself and my (team) that will help us to neutralize the enemy and keep our aligned (forces) safe when we deploy,” said Capt. Austin Hairfield, 25th ASOS flight commander.

Additionally, during the fire-support coordination exercise on the ground, they were able to perform an off-board laser spot track between the U.S. Army’s RQ-7 Shadow Unmanned Aerial System and the B-52’s targeting pod, a first for Pacific Air Force.

“Without the effective and efficient laser lock … the JTAC would have had to spend crucial seconds to locate the reinforcements himself and talk the aircraft onto the target before providing terminal guidance

"Massive B-52 bombing runs and explosions on top of Mauna Kea during this 10 day training operation with many more to come."

I can report the MK observatories survived this first bombing attack but am not sure how long we can hold on. The observatory buildings are built to survive earthquakes and hurricane-force winds, but a direct hit from a 1,000lb bomb was never considered in their designs.
