Why Fireworks? - sistersue - 12-27-2019 Why do some "people" feel the need to do aerials and bombs almost every night? Is it because they're getting away with something illegal and disturbing the peace and torturing all the dogs and it makes them feel good? Do they not have any feelings for all the animal abuse they're causing? I have a friend who has to haul her horses to a ranch north of Hilo because the fireworks scare them so much. Now they're even doing fireworks on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I just don't understand the mentality. I guess they just hate dogs and people who have to get up at 3am to go to work? ![]() RE: Why Fireworks? - EightFingers - 12-27-2019 People have an insatiable need to be “noticed”, they crave attention because they want to feel special or important. All comes down to big egos. Puna: Our roosters crow first RE: Why Fireworks? - alaskyn66 - 12-27-2019 Cultural appropriation from/of the mainland. RE: Why Fireworks? - sistersue - 12-28-2019 I was just talking with a neighbor about all the explosions we're going to have on New Year's Eve, very close to our houses. I have all my dogs' medications ready and will bring them in the house, as always. She said they sell the illegal aerials in the stores. Is this true? If so, I wonder why they're allowed to sell them? She also said the "bombs" are home-made. RE: Why Fireworks? - kalianna - 12-28-2019 Front page article in the Tribune Herald today: Fireworks are a big problem!! How many people have been arrested or fined? Zero. Keep calling the police. Call Ashley. Give addresses or locations if possible. Call back to see why nothing has been done. Each year it get worse. RE: Why Fireworks? - glassnumbers - 12-29-2019 I guess I am the only one who is going to apply logic in this thread, alright. Logic-if something is sold within a store, a place that where, the entire store is shut down if one thing is illegal within, logically, the aerials are, then, in fact, legal. Precedent-Uncle Roberts isn't even a store with a roof, but gets shut down for selling small amounts of drugs. Logic-if, historically, nothing is being done about an issue where A. no human being is being harmed AND B. no human being's property is being damaged, then D. the law isn't going to help. period. Precedent-all of legal history going back to the dawn of law itself. Now, if one of you were rich, and you had an expensive stud horse that kept getting directly spooked by the damn fireworks and now you can't breed him because of that? Then you could sue, you'd have a civil case. I don't need to quote precedent here, this is just a basic function of civil law. Basically, what I'm trying to say here is that legally, your chances of getting anything done vis a vis fireworks during the holidays is practically zero. Don't waste your time. Also, to be perfectly honest and down to earth, putting the law aside, you do realize that if your neighbors find out that you snitched on them over fireworks during the holidays, well, ****. I can't imagine that all of a sudden peace will prevail and there will be no consequences... To snitch on someone, over fireworks during the holidays???? I would not advise that! The level of unwanted social friction that will cause if discovered is SO high, that it defeats the purpose. It just may be that those neighbors with the fireworks won't be too nice with you after they find out that you reported them and their cousin, the police officer...just might let them in on the secret... RE: Why Fireworks? - kalakoa - 12-29-2019 egally, your chances of getting anything done ... is practically zero. ... if your neighbors find out that you snitched on them Fine local tradition we have: nobody dares complain about Violations Of The Law (any law) because they don't want to Suffer Retaliation. RE: Why Fireworks? - terracore - 12-29-2019 I'm sick of it too, especially what it does to our dogs. But prohibition has never worked, hence the illegal fireworks we are suffering through every night. I wonder if things would be better if the hardcore stuff was sold legally but only on the 31st. RE: Why Fireworks? - sistersue - 12-29-2019 Hi Kalianna ~ I have talked to the police department when I realized that fireworks are not only torturing dogs but other animals as well. The lady on the phone said there's nothing the police can do unless he sees the guy light the bomb with his own eyes! She said the cops are too busy with more important calls - which I understand. People come first so I guess all the innocent animals whose owners can't or don't bring them in the house will just have to suffer because of these idiots who don't care ![]() |
