HPP: Not a Park, Or Paradise - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 02-12-2020 “Hawaiian Paradise Park,” the resident said. “It’s not a park, and it sure isn’t paradise.” Police executed a search warrant Monday afternoon near Kaloli & 17th, which included officers on the ground and a helicopter for air support. Neighbors were terrified. Social media blew up Monday afternoon, with one poster... reporting ... “some guy with a megaphone” ordering someone to “please drop your weapons” — followed by five to seven gunshots. Police initially stated no gunshots were fired, but a persistent and probing reporter finally received this more detailed explanation: Asked if the police used flash or percussion grenades or if tear gas was deployed during the execution of the search warrant, Amon-Wilkins said the Special Response Team “did use several nonlethal diversionary devices, which could sound like gunshots.” Oh. It only sounded like gunfire from the lanai, while eating lunch. https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/2020/02/12/hawaii-news/hpp-residents-up-in-arms-after-disruptive-police-incident/ RE: HPP: Not a Park, Or Paradise - TomK - 02-12-2020 I think the problem here is that Nixle is rarely used by the Puna police. I don't expect the police to broadcast stuff ahead of time or even in current time, but it would have been nice to receive something after the event so people had some idea what had happened. RE: HPP: Not a Park, Or Paradise - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 02-15-2020 Update on Puna S.W.A.T.: (note - there are two suspects with the last name Overturf*) Overturf was in possession of almost 1 1/4 pounds of methamphetamine, 2/3 of an ounce of heroin, 0.43 grams of cocaine and 1.4 ounces of marijuana. He also was charged as a felon in possession of ammunition for a 9 millimeter round turned up in the search. Documents state Overturf told officers he’d lived in the 17th Avenue house for about a year and that he sells narcotics as his primary source of income. Court documents state Overturf was in possession of 17.5 grams of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe with meth residue when she was found by officers hiding in some brush near the home. https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/2020/02/15/hawaii-news/hpp-drug-bust-suspects-charged/ * Overturf - perhaps like Nietzsche's ubermensch, with a specialization in lawn care? |
