In the meantime more cruise ships are coming to Hawaii. Might as well expect to get sick and plan accordingly.

more cruise ships are coming to Hawaii.

It’s almost as if our public officials are so addicted to tourism, it’s to the detriment of Hawaii’s citizens.

Might as well expect to get sick and plan accordingly.

From an elderly perspective that whole line of reasoning is just stupid. I mean, come on, if you follow that logic all people over 60 might as well "get their affairs in order"

can't ban cruise ships

"Don't want to" is not the same thing as "can't".

that whole line of reasoning is just stupid

"Realistic" is not the same thing as "stupid".

to the detriment of Hawaii’s citizens

Not just "citizens" but also "tourists" -- with any luck, "elected officials" too.

I can't imagine cruises being an enjoyable experience for much longer never knowing when and if they can disembark or if they are getting a lethal illness to take home to the grandparents in a germ enhancing environment. Or how about being stuck and quarantined outside a country similar to the ship off of Japan? Who the heck is going to buy a pricey ticket for that possibility?

ban cruise ships lol... get real kooks! use common sense... more peeps come here via air daily, faster, and from farther (more sick) places,...
at least a ship can be held up for 2 weeks w/ food etc... try keeping a jet in the air for 2 weeks lol...

ps... Every year in the U.S., on average: 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu, More than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications, and; The flu causes about 12,000 to 56,000 deaths each year (of all ages, not just old farts)...

Measles in no longer 'extinct' in the USA... it was extinct 20 yrs ago... in 1980 it killed 2.5 million per yr! from 1980-2015, every year it went down,... except recently, ALL and ONLY because of the facebook conspiracy believing pickleheaded retards...

What a lot of people don't know about cruise ships is that the crew are constantly moved around. It's not unusual for many of them to get off the ship mid-way through the cruise itinerary and flown to where another ship is and it could be on the other side of the globe. Also the crew are densely housed with several crewmembers bunking together. And they work different shifts so the bunks are constantly being used. They don't get their own bunk- after they start work somebody else is off duty and sleeping in the same bunk. They are housed below the water line and have little access to fresh air or sun. This generally represents 1/3 of the people on the boat. So in many ways it is much worse than an airplane and they have high exposure to international travel.
