Punatics: The New Pioneers - nanasohana - 02-20-2006 Well we all are sort of. Maybe someone should do a documentory on all of us that are doing this unusual thing we are doing. There all ages of us, income brackets, good health and not so good health...what is the common thread? Pioneer spirit? The old american can do spirit (or other country can do spirit). Well I can't spend anymore time lingering here in my thoughts...my chop saw quit and I gotta go to Home Depot. I like pioneering if I am close to a Home Depot... RE: Punatics: The New Pioneers - Rob Tucker - 02-20-2006 Quote "I like pioneering if I am close to a Home Depot..." Now that is quite funny!! Chairman, Punaweb Committee, MSPA RE: Punatics: The New Pioneers - John S Rabi - 02-20-2006 I think it is more of like taking on a new challenge. For some it's a challenge to get out of bed, for some it's going to Home Depot and for some to start anew in Puna! John S. Now I avoid that place like the plague.... RE: Punatics: The New Pioneers - loffelkopffl - 02-20-2006 pioneers? welcome to the twilight zone, lol. RE: Punatics: The New Pioneers - pslamont - 02-20-2006 Pioneers Indeed! I think Nancy hit it right on the head. My southern California friends see it that way. I went from a city woman, house in the suburbs, requisite swimming pool, pond with waterfall, etc.... to 30 acres i the rain forest and building a new home from the ground up with my husband still on the mainland getting ready to retire. THAT IS PIONEER SPIRIT. Granted this isn't the old west and thank goodness we have chain saws, lumber mills and the like but compared from the lifestyle most of us come from, this is a step back in time and forward in adventure. Yay for us! Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! RE: Punatics: The New Pioneers - mella l - 02-21-2006 From what I read I think the people on the West Side think we're nuts moving to the Wild Wild East side! LOL I think we should encourage this line of thought don't you~!! So in that respect we are looked at as Pioneers grubbing out our little spot in Paradise where it rains 12 inches every day 365! Eden Rocker, Mella L mella l RE: Punatics: The New Pioneers - Carey - 02-21-2006 Mella, your timing was impecable! Our raingauge in Keaau got 4" of rain overnight! The amazing thing is that there are just a few little puddles, and people are out walking with friends & pets in the rain; just a little water! It truly is a magical place, and the sun is starting to peek through! Aloha, Carey RE: Punatics: The New Pioneers - mella l - 02-21-2006 Wow Carey what a neat picture you paint with the words. Wish I was there. Well I was last week and it just wasn't enough. I love the Keauu area and the people, but dang the endless rain!! LOL mella l RE: Punatics: The New Pioneers - pam jones - 02-21-2006 Pioneers! We are more likely just crazy. Everybody in my family thinks my husband and I have lost our collective minds (hey hey aint it great) leaving behind the "security" (ha!) of our jobs, home, etc. The challenge is to get thru this whole building process with our sense of humor intact and hopefully all of our fingers and have a nice place to call home. Isnt't it wonderful calling Hawai'i HOME!!!? Mella I can't wait to be your neighbor; got the pink flamingos yet? |
