New covid procedure at Hilo airport post office: Once you're done standing in line to print your postage at the kiosk, no more walking it to the counter if it doesn't fit in the parcel slot or if it's full. You have to go stand in the outside line to drop the package off. When I was there last week the line extended past the building all the way to the road so the end of the line was closer to the FedEx counter than the USPS counter.
I guess it defeats the purpose of standing in the kiosk line, because if you're going to stand in the longer line to drop the package off, why wouldn't you just buy the postage then?
I know you're thinking... one can check to see if the parcel drop is full before getting into the kiosk line? Sure, but you're gambling that it doesn't fill up while you're waiting in line #1. This time of the year my luck is that it's been full about half the time.
