MINDFUL GIVING - Sam Son - 12-26-2020 Puna Councilwoman Ashley Kierkiewicz recently allocated $25,000 of discretionary funds to an entity called "Mindful Living." Are these the people who thoughtfully find ways to formulate policies to make management decisions that facilitate the creation of plans for providing public access to the magnificent black sand beaches at Kapoho? Looks like a way to pay someone... https://www.mindfullivinghi.org/ Currently, we offer technical assistance to other community and non-profit organizations on the Big Island. Technical assistance ranges from fiscal sponsorship, grant writing, database management, project management, meeting facilitation and networking for fundraising and other resources. April 2020 - on-going: Mindful Living's role is primarily focused on database management and reporting to support AHA's goal of island-wide distribution of "Keiki Care Packages" that include foods, “fun” stuff to occupy time, recipes for parents and kids to try, and mental health support resources. From AHA: Going to school means so much to our keiki. It’s a place for socialization, structure, and extracurricular activities. Once the Hawai‘i Department of Education announced extended school closures, a hui of parents part of the Activate Hawai‘i Aid collective banded together to figure out a way to support our keiki. We wanted to do something that served their physical and emotional well-being. Hence, Keiki Care Packs was born. How many more task force meetings will it take before Ashley figures this out?
