Rat bloom? - terracore - 01-01-2021

Has anybody else noticed more rat activity?  In the last month or so we've gone through 3 pounds of rat bait which is normally enough to last several months.

Yes, they are gnawing on our avos! I can’t imagine wanting to eat an unripe avo.

I watched a TV program about a rural farming area in SE asia trying to harvest their rice crop before the bamboo fruit/nut/seed crop came to full fruition. This happens only every few decades and because of how widespread and prolific bamboo is and how weirdly synchronized the event is, with all bamboo plants within hundreds of miles blooming and ripening within days of each other, there is a freakishly large rat population boom and bust. Had they not gotten the crop in before the boom it would have been utterly destroyed.

I used to fish at South Point and there would be mouse population booms where you turn your back for a few minutes and the food you were preparing would have been colonized by mice. Several mice would be in view at once crawling around seemingly without fear.
