COSTCO ...?

haven't done any  major grocery shopping since months before the epidemic began.
The shopping horror stories made smaller local purchases very inviting, and cost effective.

Our major stocking of the freezer and cupboards is beginning to get large bare areas in it.
We're thinking of making a major stocking-up trip to the other side next week rather than staying local again .

How are shopping trips to COSTCO faring now?
Might be time to go over and bring back $1500, or so, worth of groceries, maybe ... ?

I went last week and it was just fine. No big crowds, well-stocked. Checkout lines had 3-4 people per aisle. Everyone social-distanced, masked and well-behaved. Midday is less crowded than later in the afternoon. Come for the Costco, stay for the beach.

We go about every six weeks. Parking is always difficult and they did something to the gas pumps that seems to be making it difficult for people thus slowing things down considerably.

The lines in the store usually have three or four carts at each one. There’s a line at the entrance, but it moves fast, so little waiting there.

The mix of groceries varies, so don’t count on your favorite being available - cereal for example, is very hit and miss now if you eat cereal. Just have to be open to try new things.

I went today, it was very busy. Long lines with most cashiers open. Seemed like lots of tourists there today.

They don’t have paper towels but they have choke toilet paper. The beer isle is now full of toilet paper in addition to the regular spot and stacked high.

So they're selling ice-cold TP?

Just the thought of that  makes me pucker.

We were thinking of Monday.
Beginning to sound like a plan.

I always hated going to COSTCO.
In fact, I did most of my shopping at Sam's.
I missed it sorely when we moved here.

No, I'm not foolish enough to  voice a hope that there will eve be one here.
Local politics killed that thought.

It was a much better experience, less crowded parking lots, less people running around in a big hurry running over anyone one not fast enough for their expectations, a much more civil experience.
Going to COSTCO is like a trip to L.A.
The epidemic compounded it.

Pretty much. I would rarely go if it were located downtown Hilo. Kona? Forget it.

Costco is way less crowded than Walmart, but I wouldn't go the first week of the month if you know what I mean...

You haven’t experienced true chaos until you have shopped at the Honolulu Costco.

Kona is a cake walk by comparison.

I have been 3 or 4 times in the last 6-8 months. Pretty normal. I fill Diesel when there. Oahu Costco's are also pretty normal. Wish they carried diesel, but SAMS has diesel.
