Hawaii's Warming Climate & It's Effect On Food Crops - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 10-01-2021

Climate change is affecting food production on farms, ranches, and orchards in Hawaii
If you are a climate change denier consider for a moment if you'd like to post - - do you normally think of farmers & ranchers as raging liberals and socialists?  Do you know more about weather and its effect on their livelihood than they do?

Michelle Galimba has always been aware of the risk of wildfires to her cattle.
A second-generation rancher on Hawaii island, Galimba learned long ago that when the grass that feeds her family’s herd turns brown and brittle, the flick of a cigarette, a strike of lightning or an impromptu campfire can spark disaster.

For Kuahiwi Ranch, fire danger was usually a seasonal concern. Something to watch out for in the hot and dry summertime. In the last 10 years, that’s changed, she said.
“We’ve lost a lot of the seasonal patterns, so a drought can happen at any time,”

On Hawaii island, warmer nights are making it harder for macadamia nut trees to flower.

I don’t deny climate change, it’s been going on for billions of years.

Hawaii’s unique natural history

If you read the article, most if not all of the ranchers and growers were born here.  Which you imply makes them qualified to speak on the subject.

There were almost no edible plants in Hawaii when the first people arrived.  They brought their food with them, canoe plants.  That’s how they were able to survive, so that people could be born here.  It’s been that way ever since with subsequent arrivals.  If it wasn’t, no one could live here and have a conversation about all of the above.
