Lieutenant Governor Josh Green believes Safe Travels is here to stay.

"People are now comfortable just having their vaccination cards and or getting a test. It served us very well," Green said.

Thanks to Green for finally spelling it out -- it's clearly time to leave Hawaii.

When do you think Safe Travels should be terminated? And why leave instead of staying and opposing it?

I donʻt really mind the Safe Travels Program, itʻs the crowd restrictions that are making me crazy. I see footage of football games, concerts, broadway plays, etc. happening all over the country. Is there any other state that restricts gatherings to (newly expanded, oh boy oh boy) seventy-five people?

RE: Safe Travels now permanent? - kalakoa - 10-18-2021

It's not so much the restrictions as the indefinite extension and renewal, with no clearly defined metrics.

When will the "emergency" be over? When will the restrictions be lifted? Nobody knows.

As noted above, no other state has gathering limits. Nor do I have to "pre-register" to travel to one of those other states.

We are well beyond a "temporary" system to manage "public health".

I am no longer interested in paying for this.

I can venture a guess, the emergency will never be over.  so, where would you go instead?

Somewhere that's open for business, somewhere that has a real economy. It's not too much to ask.

Kalakoa, I don't know that Hawaii has ever been open for business with a real economy... I guess if you were looking for that you may never have been happy here!

I just moved here in January under the impression this would all be over by now. I'm having a hard time dealing with these continued mandates and restrictions.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I feel like leaving more and more every day, but the only reason why is Ige's complete inability to show any kind of real leadership.

Are people here really going to vote for Green after all of this garbage? The election is quite far off and I can't deal with another year of this. If we're still doing this in 2022 I am leaving. I will have lost a lot of money and it will be really really hard for me, but I cannot continue to live in this dystopia.

At this point if they mandate further jabs I'm saying "no" just to be an asshole. I was vaccinated almost immediately when it was available, and my elderly father is triple vaxxed. When does this end?

I don't even blame the anti-vaxxers at this point. I'm honestly rooting for them now. That's how ridiculous things have become now. I'm afraid I'm going to totally lose it I have to do this past December. If he extends emergency orders again, I will fly to Oahu and join the anti-vaxxers around Green's residence and bang pots and pans with them all night.

While Green is the least bad option, it doesn't actually matter who is elected Governor, because that role has no actual authority.

Watch as Hawaii reopens just in time for the winter tourism bump. This indicates how important the opinions and desires of the residents really are. (Hint: we are not important.)
