Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - achutch3 - 12-16-2021 Hey Everyone, I've got 4 huge piles (too big to haul with just my pickup alone) that I'm looking to have removed in the future. Anyone have any experience with haulers/chippers locally? Price structure? Thanks! RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - AaronM - 12-17-2021 Burn it. jk RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - tawyna - 12-21-2021 Burn the piles in a wire mesh covered 55 gallon drum and let Fire Dept. know first and take the ashes once cooled and put around fruit trees drip lines or your papaya, banana or pineapple plants as the potash will increase your fruit n veg yields , Tawnya RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - birdmove - 12-21-2021 You could haul three pickup loads a week to the Pahoa dump green waste bin. You only get one trip per day. You could do one load each day, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - Chas - 12-21-2021 That's what I did. You could actually do one in Pahoa and one in Keaau each day. It took me about 25 trips in my little pickup. Combined it with other needed shopping/trips. Took me about a 2 months. RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - achutch3 - 12-21-2021 Thanks for the ideas all. That's pretty much what I was thinking with the 3 days out of the week between the 2 transfer stations. RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - birdmove - 12-21-2021 Keaau is another possibility. But, all too often it seems, the green waste bin there is blocked off. At least Pahoa has been reliable. You can also take green waste to Hilo, but I have not done that. RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - kalakoa - 12-21-2021 Once again, the underlying assumption is that "your time is free", and you just have all day to truck greenwaste. RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - Chas - 12-21-2021 Still might be less time than trying to find someone reliable to take care of it for you. RE: Greenwaste/Palm Frond/Coconut/Brush Pile Removal - birdmove - 12-22-2021 One load per day for three days a week is hardly taking "all day" hauling green waste. Takes me maybe an hour to drive to Pahoa, unload my Tacoma pickup, and drive home. Maybe 30-45 minutes to load it and tarp it the day before. Maybe a gallon of gas. Don't know about you, but after that I still have plenty of time and energy left, and I'm a 68 year old geezer. |
