Weird Facts - wyatt - 06-08-2008

Antlions are the larvae form of a group of insects belonging to the family Myrmeleontidae. The adult form is a winged insect resembling a dragonfly. Antlions are sometimes also called doodlebugs.
The antlions stay in the larval form for up to 3 years. (They eventually cocoon themselves and stay there for about a month, and once they emerge as winged adults they only live another 1-2 months.)
The antlion larvae are an average of about 1/2 inch fully grown (North American species).

And step into the darkness of the unknown
Believe that one of the two will happen to you
Either you'll find something solid to stand on
Or you'll be taught how to fly!”
