Planning a Disaster - Sam Son - 04-10-2022

.    The Hawaii County Disaster Recovery Division and a Puna Councilmember are throwing another buffo bash.  This one will include local food trucks, a keiki craft station, and tons of information on emergency preparedness resilience and infrastructure investments, or lack of the same.

So what's the problem?  Monday's gala activities are scheduled to be held at the Sure Foundation Church on Pohaku Circle at 4:30 p.m., right as Highway 130 hits maximum afternoon traffic volume.  Since the majority of attendees will be arriving from Lower Puna, a shrewd lass might have foreseen that this will likely create gridlock from the Keaau Bypass to the Pahoa Roundabout.

The scary thing is that this blowout was planned by our County disaster relief professionals.

               Cowabunga, dudes!

Sounds like they designed another carmageddon, but with media coverage.

I hope someone brings a drone.

I say we take them to lunch.

I agree that the chosen time is probably a poor choice. Why not 6 PM?

RE: Planning a Disaster - ChunksterK - 04-10-2022

Why not on a weekend when more people could go?

Why not 6 PM?
Why not on a weekend

Hawaii County employees.  Night. Weekend.  Both times when they would only show up if you pay them double or triple time.

Coqui frogs were reported at least 4 times that I know of when they were still on one property above Kurtistowm.  USDA punches out a 4:30  PM (except airport inspectors) and coqui frogs start chirping at dark.  Never the twain shall meet, until it's too late.
