Sea Rescue (?) - Chas - 09-27-2022
Yesterday, around at 4:10 pm, I watched a helicopter drop a basket and swimmer into the ocean off the cliffs between Macu'u and Paradise. He appeared to have picked someone up and they went to the Macu'u side of the park to land.
I haven't seen or heard anything about it. Anyone have any info?

There were reports of a missing diver. Witnesses said he had been attached to a buoy. The buoy was found but not the diver. that's probably what you saw being picked up.

I spoke with the firefighters but they woudln't divulge much. From what I understand the rescue diver and helicopter landed on shore with the missing diver's float and some gear. The part that is most mysterious is that there was no vehicle parked which belonged to the missing diver. Did he possibly drive away without his gear? If not, how did he arrive at the cliffs to go diving?

Ok, thanks. That makes sense. That's what I saw floating in the water before they dropped the diver. It did seem really quick from the time he dropped to the time they pulled out.
