Looks like we have some colder weather, heavy rain, and/or high winds also with us during this holiday weekend. Plan appropriately.

...STRENGTHENING NORTHEAST WINDS AND A SIGNIFICANT NORTH SWELL
REMAIN POSSIBLE TONIGHT THROUGH THANKSGIVING FOR THE HAWAIIAN
ISLANDS...
A cold front is forecast to push across the islands tonight
through Thanksgiving Day. The front will move over the western
islands tonight, before exiting east-southeast of the Big Island
Thanksgiving Day. This system will generate a period of locally
heavy rainfall in advance of the front, with strong northeast
winds developing as the front passes. Forecast confidence remains
high that most areas around the state will be impacted by the
strong and gusty northeast winds.
Winds this strong can have some significant impacts including;
damaging shingles, knocking down tree branches, blowing away
tents and awnings, and making it difficult to drive, especially
for high profile vehicles. Also, be prepared for possible power
outages. Please consider moving any planned outdoor Thanksgiving
events indoors, and postpone hanging outdoor holiday decorations
as they may become damaged or airborne with these strong winds.
Additionally, a powerful low pressure system passing north of the
area will generate a large north swell that will build tonight,
with the peak of the swell potentially coinciding with extreme
high tides on Thursday and Friday mornings. Homeowners, beachgoers
and boaters should prepare for the potential for high surf and
significant wave run-up along exposed north facing shores.

Frequent showers. High near 75. Breezy, with a north wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Breezy, with a north wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
[b]Friday[/b]
Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. Breezy, with a north wind 6 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Consider postponing travel to the summits until conditions
improve. If you must travel to the summits, use extra caution

I’m on Maui right now. In Kihei. I can see Kahoolawe across the channel. I guess I won’t rent a boogie board, snorkel, and fins from Boss Frogs to swim out there given the blustery current conditions.
Kahului Airport has a free train that runs between the terminal and rental car facility. That could be entertaining.

Watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving. Make

Up in Eden Roc we had some 25-30 mph winds with higher gusts. Some rain that splattered on the roof misted through the bug screen but not enough to be a problem and make me wish we'd put up the plastic outside.
