NOT RE: That latest balloon over us. - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 05-03-2023 sez the parking lot attendant/passsion-orange-guava beverage/Mrs. Doubtfire of Puna - - who wouldn't wear a mask during a deadly pandemic - - that we should worry about an unknown balloon passing 60,000 feet overhead? RE: That latest balloon over us. - TomK - 05-03-2023 We need to set up something equivalent to what's below, perhaps The Royal Order of Kamehameha Puna Observer Corps to keep the island safe from balloons. https://youtu.be/DQWWmwrDFzU PS. Look at this blatant use of a balloon flying directly over the TMT site on Mauna Kea. Who knows what technology was being used to spy on a potential laser site? https://youtu.be/p71WVutrk6s RE: That latest balloon over us. - leilanidude - 05-03-2023 Numerous articles in the last couple of days about this, including that they scrambled F22's out of Honolulu, of which 2 of the 3 basically ran out of fuel and performed emergency landings in Hilo (ITO). Complete mismanagement to scramble F22's, sending them over 200 miles out and not bothering to also send up a tanker to refuel them. Good gawd, have a clue! Here's more on those scrambled jets. "Yesterday morning I was flying with a student pilot. Not long after we took off from Hilo, the Departure Controller called us and the other aircraft near Hilo to tell us that the [sic] Honolulu Control Facility had just told them that there was a military operation over the Big Island and all civilian aircraft were to remain off shore until further notice," Scott Wilson, a flight instructor at Aloha Skies Aviation in Hawaii, wrote in a public post on Facebook on April 29. "About 20 minutes later an F-22 declared an emergency and was given landing instructions. ... The controller never repeated back what the emergency problem was so I don't know what it was. "After the F-22 landed, they were told to continue toward the airport," he added. "Then a second F-22 declared an emergency for low fuel (per what the controller repeated back to the F-22 pilot that we could hear on VHF) and everyone had to hold again." RE: That latest balloon over us. - kalakoa - 05-03-2023 blatant use of a balloon flying directly over the TMT site on Mauna Kea There's a TMT site on Mauna Kea?
