Ohelo Restaurant in Volcano Closed - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 02-22-2025 Ohelo Restaurant in Volcano Village closed permanently a few days ago. Anyone have additional info? RE: Ohelo Restaurant in Volcano Closed - TomK - 02-22-2025 I have never visited, but was it any good? Its website and menu are still available: https://www.ohelocafe.com/menus With those prices, I suspect it competed with Kilauea Lodge. RE: Ohelo Restaurant in Volcano Closed - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 02-22-2025 It was a small, unassuming restaurant, a more limited menu than Kilauea Lodge or Volcano House. Their wood fired pizza was quite good, pasta dishes too. Some months ago they cut back their hours, closed at 7 PM. I always enjoyed the scent of wood smoke from the pizza oven wafting in the cool Volcano air as I walked from the parking area to the entrance. RE: Ohelo Restaurant in Volcano Closed - TomK - 02-23-2025 There is nothing like wood smoke to take away the smell of sulfur! I find a decent glass of Cabernet Sauvignon with your pizza does a pretty good job of it too! (I made a few inquiries with people who might know why Ohelo’s closed, but no details were revealed) RE: Ohelo Restaurant in Volcano Closed - terracore - 03-01-2025 Their published instagram page summary says they require proof of vaccination and masks to dine there. Maybe that has something to do with it? Or the fact that they ever required "LET ME SEE YOUR PAPERS" to begin with? Not to mention that 99/100 people find that eating while wearing a mask over their face and mouth to be impossible. RE: Ohelo Restaurant in Volcano Closed - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 03-01-2025 published instagram page I don’t think they updated that recently. I can’t remember when they last asked for a COVID card or mask. Their digital footprint never seemed to be a high priority. The restaurant was usually busy, we usually made a reservation if we wanted to eat around the dinner hour. Well, let’s be honest now. The picture posted IS NOT from the CURRENT Ohelo Café Published Instagram site. It is from an historical Google search. It’s also undated. I went and looked at each of the 117 posts on Ohelo Café’s Instagram page and that post is no longer there. Further, the Google link that mentions the masking requirements does not take you to the specific post, it just takes you to the main Instagram page. Don’t take my word for it. Try it out yourself. Funny, I thought it was supposed to be about conservative values and making America great. That was on full display in the Oval today, and just wait until the new tariffs kick in next Tuesday! Oh the sweet “Schadenfreude!” RE: Ohelo Restaurant in Volcano Closed - TomK - 03-02-2025 I thought this was about a restaurant in Volcano that has closed. Am I missing something? |
