August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - MyManao - 08-09-2026 The first readout is online. For the entire state.. https://elections.hawaii.gov/election-results/ For the island of Hawaii.. printed on: 08/08/2026 at 07:03:19 pm https://elections.hawaii.gov/wp-content/results/2026%20Primary/coh.pdf and the one race everyone in lower Puna's been talking about.. State Representative, Dist 4 - D ILAGAN, Greggor 2,158 63.7% HUNT, Tamlyn (Tam) 1,050 31.0% Blank Votes: 112 3.3% Over Votes: 3 0.1% RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - randomq - 08-09-2026 "Blank Votes" beats "BJ Penn" in District 1 CC race. I think that might be a message to stop running, LOL! RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - ironyak - 08-09-2026 The Star-Advertiser has the results nicely formatted: https://www.staradvertiser.com/2026-hawaii-primary-election-results/ Overall, another win for consensus reality and incumbents (Joy, Greggor, Green, Kawakami, etc). No matter how vocal the local facebook crowd, they still just can't actualize their visions into widespread consciousness, whether it be stopping the County Council Agenda 2045 for taking their trucks or convincing everyone that the black helicopters are coming for their water catchments. But hey, Ed Case unfortunately won his primary so I feel for them - can only keep hoping and dreaming for a better tomorrow where the da kine is decriminalized and bamboo hempcrete microhousing is on every lot (anyone actually get to work with hempcrete? Ran across a couple example projects on Maui and a recent project up Waimea way) County Council has a handful of close calls for Puna district that'll likely lead to a recount in District 5 where Matson, Rodenhurst, and Mrs. Kaneali'i-Kleinfelder are all within 50 votes (maybe those missing 19,000 ballots will finally be found? ;) and a head-to-head contest in the Nov. 3 general election for District 4 between Eileen O'Hara and Lloyd Enriquez (be interesting to see Cyd and Smiley's endorsements going forward). https://bigislandnow.com/2026/08/08/preliminary-election-results-for-hawaii-county-council-show-2-incumbents-keeping-their-seats/ RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - HiloJulie - 08-09-2026 Well, it looks like Greggor has found what will no doubt end up being his lifelong career sucking the taxpayer teat, while outside of doing the obligatory things for his constituents, will continue to more or less sit back and do nothing more. I do see from his Facebook page that he does apparently keep fit and sucks down those 10 bucks plus a pop green smoothies, so I am sure he will be in office for a long, long, long, long time! Despite Tam having lost, the real losers and I mean losers in that THEY are losers as I see it are, once again are the voters who simply did not vote. As of this morning's 3rd printout for Hawaii County, out of a total of 134,573 registered voters, only 44,027, or 32.7% voted. Similar percentages with the State as a whole. I guess most of Hawaii's registered voters think Democracy is just a spectator sport. Grok that! RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - knieft - 08-09-2026 No one comes close to my “requirements” to vote for them. Robust support for geothermal and TMT. Ending all restrictions on short term rentals. Generalized reduction in the roles of all levels of government in normal life. That Lloyd Enriquez came in second is pretty scary, but typical I guess. Cheers, Kirt RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - HiloJulie - 08-09-2026 That Lloyd Enriquez came in second is pretty scary, but typical I guess. That BJ Penn got damned near 200 votes is REALLY scary! And, yes, sadly, typical. RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - Rob Tucker - 08-10-2026 No news. Nothing changes. Rinse and repeat. RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - punikahakaiferret - 08-10-2026 Agree. Nothing to see here...move along. :::*sigh*::: RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - ironyak - 08-10-2026 HiloJulie - Well, it looks like Greggor has found what will no doubt end up being his lifelong career sucking the taxpayer teat Or Tam could, you know, run for County Council and prove he has more than big AI generated ideas and can actually get things done on a local level before running for state office again. You know, prove you can be a team player and help win at the local games before thinking you're minor league material. Rob - No news. Nothing changes. Rinse and repeat. Sorry, what was the winning message about what needed to change? Restricting PGV? Food forests? (don't most have fruit trees in the yard and/or fruit & veg in the garden already?) The law getting in the way of pakalolo? (Really? in Puna?) Sincerely asking what changes people were pinning their hopes for on the long-shot candidates. Thanks! RE: August 8, 2026 Primary Election Results - Rob Tucker - 08-10-2026 ironyak, The basics that don't seem to change is ever since the 1960 tsunami a disproportionate share of county tax monies have been devoted to Hilo to the detriment of the other nine council districts. Also unchanged is Puna's bad roads. Most all of our substandard roads in the subdivisions created pre statehood were approved by the county in violation of laws in place at the time. For over half a century Fuel Tax Revenue (FTR), collected as a gas tax, is intended to repair and maintain the roads on which the tax was collected. 40% of Big Island roads are "privately owned" and the CoH uses that as an excuse to devote 100% of the Fuel Tax Revenue to country owned roads. Despite that fact we have county owned roads in Puna which are substandard (Post Office Road in Pahoa for example). Meanwhile the CoH Planning Department keeps Puna kinda barefoot and pregnant with commercial zoning. Hilo, with about 40,000 residents has about 2,000 acres of commercial zoning for example. Puna, with about 40,000 resident has about 50 acres of commercial zoning. See what's going on? |
