Congrats to the Hilo RBI girls softball team - Greg - 08-17-2008 They played their hearts out in the RBI world series in Compton, CA. They dominated play all through the preliminaries, and reached the championship game today. Alas, Santo Domingo, D.R., defeated the previously unbeaten team from Hilo, 3-1, to become the first team outside of the United States to win a Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Softball World Series. No shame girls; you represent! RE: Congrats to the Hilo RBI girls softball team - Kelena - 08-17-2008 Shoulda flamin' told me! I would have gone to root dem wahine on! I flew from Oahu to Hilo on the 18th with the team! Our plane took a long run way over to the Hilo terminal. On either side of the runway were two yellow/green fire engines! They used their fire hoses full stream on and created an arch way over our plane to welcome the team home!! Really where but here would you see such a sight. What support for these young people, so honored! The team is Front Page Hawaii Tribune Herald on the 19th. They all got leid it was really cute, lots of pics. Well I got leid too, by about 13 PWebers who met my flight, much to my surprise and delight! Each and every one gave me a hug and a beautiful lei, fresh plumeria, fern, ti all home made and some shells, kuki nuts, all so lovely. What a lovely group of friends I've met right here on the PW. Oh yes, I'm cat sitting, in a sanctuary for 2 1/2 weeks! As pslamont says "It's all good!!!" A hui hou! mella l "Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant with the weak and wrong....because sometime in your life you will have been all of these." |
