Planning Dept. Code Enforcement Data - Rob Tucker - 12-19-2006

I have had Larry Brown send me a list of code enforcement actions taken over the past two years. I also asked for a list of building code enforcement actions.

He has quickly provided me a list of approx. 140 actions. Names, date violations. The list does not show results and the lists is not in a convenient form for sharing with you.

I think it might be good to select a half dozen or so of these enforcement actions, particularly those with illegal structures, and find out how they resolved.

Any thoughts? Is this a waste of time?

Makes sense to follow through on a number of the actions to find out what happened.

I second taking a look at the outcomes. Surprising that the county data did not include that. Also I am curious as to the nature of violations. Were they just individuals or were developers/contractors cited more often? I am also interested in summary data. Were they mostly poor construction practices, substandard dwellings, drainage, waste disposal or what?
