What does the building code code allow as far as Ohia, Mango, Bamboo, etc. as structural members? I see it used a in lot of houses here, but is it code legal?

I believe they can be made code legal by having the architect or engineer of record inspect the posts for grade, quality and installation. They then can sign off on it for the county.,
