RE: Big Island Multi-facetted homes... - Rob Tucker - 12-10-2005 Just a minor note: Punaweb has no paid advertisers. Mainstreet Pahoa Association is a non profit organization. Our mission statement is to enhance the social and economic well being of Pahoa. This web site is one way in which we attempt to do that. RE: Big Island Multi-facetted homes... - David M - 12-10-2005 We visited the models 3+ years ago. We were very excited about MFH and had a concept home on paper that involved interconnecting 4 Hale 12's. We found out from Michael (MFH) that actual costs would run 2 1/2 to 3 times the kit cost and that did not include doing anything extraordinary. That was enough to torpedo our plans. We also found out that these homes are way more maintenance intensive than I desired. They must be powerwashed and resealed regularly to keep them looking great. They do have some great features, but we decided to investigate other options. David Ninole Resident RE: Big Island Multi-facetted homes... - mella l - 12-11-2005 We were initially enthralled with the style and concept of MFH. They were the first we looked at on the web and we thought we would go with them. Getting into further research we decided while they are beautiful, price wise it would be like living in a fine piece of furniture. I agree with Pam see them in person and as looking visualize how your possessions will fit! We ultimately decided on a plan of our own with a modified octagon style that we are hoping to see the drafting plans of soon. mella l RE: Big Island Multi-facetted homes... - mella l - 12-11-2005 Here is the link for that home. Hope this works! http://www.hilobrokers.com then put in 167331 . I went to Hilo Brokers MLS site and put in the MLS number. Nice on the inside Hutch have you seen the outside? Looking at the photos of the outside though, I have to say the eaves don't extend nearly far enough from the house for this rainforest environment. The exterior looks pretty weathered for a house built in 2002/3, been getting wet a lot. RE: Big Island Multi-facetted homes... - David D - 12-11-2005 Is it just me? There doesn't to be much bang for the buck with that property. David D RE: Big Island Multi-facetted homes... - leilaniguy - 12-11-2005 Aloha David, It sits on 3 lots, I figure best case scenario worth maybe 180 grand, subtract 2 lots, -120 thou, you get the price; 1 bed house under 1000sq. ft. and lot for $309,000. Yes, I'd call it a ripoff. (The unpermitted structures aren't worth much, if anything to a bank.) Edited by - leilaniguy on 12/11/2005 19:53:28 |
