Mahalo -Erin RE: Web Host Recommendation? - John S. Rabi - 07-10-2007 Erin, e-mail me privately andI will ive you the info on my guy. Fifteen years in the making. Aloha, John S. RE: Web Host Recommendation? - Les C - 07-10-2007 Because you're talking about the Internet, a web hosting service does not need to be located on the Island. If you need to direct a webmaster to do what you want, then it might be nice to talk to someone face to face. But it appears that you might be doing your own work? I've been using Intermedia.net Edited by - Les C on 07/10/2007 22:05:37 RE: Web Host Recommendation? - Greg - 07-11-2007 Erin, I use an online photo service as a host. For about $35 and then $10 a month, they give you a URL and the software to do your own website. The one I use is "photosite" and there are others available. It's relatively easy to work (if I can do it) and I've found it a lot less expensive than the local internet gurus. Check my site out at (http://www.stoneface.org). RE: Web Host Recommendation? - toucano - 07-11-2007 You can probably find a free web hosting service that will work. Do a Google for "free web hosting" and you will see just how many there are and what services they offer. There are even sites dedicated to compiling lists of free web servers with all of the information about each one, comparisons, reviews from users, and links to them. Finding the right fit depends on exactly what you want to do and your skill level. RE: Web Host Recommendation? - hooligal - 07-12-2007 Thanks all. I'm leery of free sites since I got burned once upon a time. I'm a webmaster so I'm pretty picky I'd prefer to support a local company (that's reliable) but if I can't find one I'll use my host on the mainland. Mahalo! RE: Web Host Recommendation? - jdirgo - 07-13-2007 Check out Koa Consulting and see if they offer a webhosting option. They are currently building my website (their primary business) but perhaps they could offer to host your site for a reasonable price. Hurai -- 930-4584. Let him know I sent you. I just discovered they're going out of business in Sept. I'm looking into a service called 1and1 that I saw in Smart Computing magazine. RE: Web Host Recommendation? - Kelena - 07-16-2007 I have used www.atfreeweb.com for about four years. I used to joke about it being two guys from Oxnard, and I think it was. I've stopped laughing now. The site has gone down perhaps twice in four years. They got it back up and running in no time and had e-mailed me (and perhaps others affected) to let us know they were aware of the problem. My site is a legal website used by four or five of the largest court systems in California. I always intended to migrate to a better known host, but as it turns out, I haven't needed to do so. Those two guys from Oxnard are pretty reliable! RE: Web Host Recommendation? - Kahunascott - 07-16-2007 Check out www.divehilo.com a member of this form is a webmaster. His name is Andrew and his info is on the dive site. |
