Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - Rob Tucker - 09-02-2007 From: Friends for Puna's Future PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO INTERESTED PEOPLE In the course of the Puna Community Development Plan (PCDP), the county has encouraged people to stay involved and follow the process beyond the task at hand and into the future. Too many community efforts in the past have languished or been ignored. To do this in an organized way, a nonprofit group has been formed . The group, Friends of Puna's Future, will lobby on the county, state and federal levels on issues important to the community. This will involve raising funds for this purpose and participation, not just talking. This is a grass roots advocacy effort to keep Puna issues moving forward. Immediate issues are the PCDP, Puna road safety and building a Puna medical facility. A Board of Advisors is forming to involve representatives of all areas and subdivisions of Puna. If you are interested in participating in such a group and want to know more, please respond to the following address: Use the subject line: Yes, I'm Interested Send to: Friends for Puna's Future <friendsofpuna1@mail.com> Provide your: name_____________________________ mailing address___________________________ telephone________________________ ...and you will be added to the mailing list for invitation to upcoming meetings . If you know of Puna residents or property owners who might be interested, please pass this on to them. FPF Punaweb moderator RE: Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - punagirl - 10-03-2007 I would be interested but I am not yet living on the island. Just making yearly pilgrimages to my lot! PLease let me know if there is anything I can do to help from here on the mainland. Atlanta/Pahoa RE: Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - emorata - 10-03-2007 Is there a way of informing out of state parties interested in your meetings/discussions? Unfortunately, I cannot be there in person, but interested in participating in whatever format that would be feasible as an offsight participant. kindly, Noel Morata RE: Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - Rob Tucker - 10-03-2007 One would not have to live here to join though we would kind of expect members to own property here or have some type of vested interest in the district. There is an intention to do as thorough a web site based group as possible. A set up which would allow members to communicate and, by password, vote. Not looking to create more driving opportunities and long winded meeting opportunities. Therefore being off island, temporarily or living wise, would not be an obstacle. Punaweb moderator RE: Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - Thunderfoot - 10-03-2007 I would be happy to help.I have 20 years non-profit experience.I am on the Board of three different non-profits.I do not have time to be on this Board,(plus just my name seems to invoke immediate dislike for whatever reason.I hope it isn't because of ,well__________ you know, prejudice. Can't help that Thunderfoot is my legal name,oh well...) Anyway,I would be happy to help in whatever way I can. Please let me know. Have a great day and I hope the response to this is tremendous. And yeah,I am a bit of a poet,or like to practice the art of articulation.Laterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz RE: Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - emorata - 10-03-2007 Well this seems to be a good start to keeping everyone with puna-matters especially if all the information can be delivered online and share in the voting/decision making process....should i email my information that you requested above to a particular person/email address? noel RE: Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - Frankie Stapleton - 10-03-2007 Hi Rob...I was wondering if you ever received my response to your Friends of Puna's Future questionnaire. I tried sending it 3 different times (twice after you emailed me that time was running out to respond). So please let me know if you ever received it. Thanks, Frankie RE: Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - Rob Tucker - 10-03-2007 The first posting in this topic tells how to get started wuth this group. Punaweb moderator RE: Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future - Seeb - 10-03-2007 I think one thing that should be added to the questionaire is what district do you vote in.With the upcoming mayor's race one way to get some attention is to show we have enouff votes to effect the outcome. maybe even sponsor a debate.
