Cess pool or septic tank? - Guest - 03-05-2007

We're looking for land in OrchidLand Estates. I have read conflicting statements on whether or not cess pools are still okay in that subdivision. Anyone know for sure? Also, what about Black Sand Beach subdivision?

Call the County Building Department, the County Planning Department or the State Department of Health. They are the official sources of answers for questions like this. http://www.hawaii-county.com/index.htm Their website will have all their phone numbers listed.

Go into DOH - ask for Jerry ,if you have time, they have maps of which areas can have cesspools, septics etc...... some of Black Sands Subdivision is affected by the public well in the area.

from the last time i checked cesspools are okay for properties with 1 acre plus which is the minimum lot size in orchidland....oops i think there are some 1/2 acre lots also, so that would only be septic.

Although the "rule of thumb" is 1 ac+ for cesspools. believe it or not there are some lots in Sea View that are 8000sf that CAN have cesspools so always best to check it out with SOH DOH.
