Bath tub replacement - Fishboy - 08-25-2007 I want to replace my ancient bath tub with a new synthetic "drop in". I've found the tub model I want, but the dealer tells me I have to build a layer of mortar for the drain and to form a base. I didn't ask at the time, and I have no idea how to do this. Does anyone know of a DIY type web site that will explain the process for installing in a synthetic tub? RE: Bath tub replacement - Carey - 08-25-2007 Brian, we found this site to have the mortar thing....it had better pictures than the written stuff that our tub came with: http://www.blackanddecker.com/ProjectCenter/ProjectDetail.aspx?DOC_ID=p_2_53_16402_16429_16477.html RE: Bath tub replacement - Fishboy - 08-25-2007 Thanks so much Mikewj and Carey. It looks quite a bit less intimidating now that I've seen these instructions. Since we are planning on replacing the installed fiberglass tub with a cast iron footed tub being able to easily remove the mortar will be handy as soon as I get around to renovating the bath house again. We finally found feet for the cast iron tub. Well, we didn't actually find feet, there was a place in Tacoma Washington - Creative Castings - that cast some up for us in bronze no less! |
