rent/pay plasma cutter - hooligal - 10-15-2007

I'm looking to rent a plasma cutting setup, or pay someone who owns the rig to do some cuts. I won't have power, so they'll need to have the compressor and generator too. I'll be cutting 14 guage and 1/8 steel max. I'll probably need it around mid-november for 4 hours total.

Anyone know of a rental place or a metalgeek for hire? I can't justify spending a few grand for a cutter of my own Smile

Why do you need a plasma cutter for such light gage metal? Are there a lot of cuts to make?

I use steel cutting carbide circular saw blades for steel up to 1/4" thick. They work so well you could do picture framing with them.

Cuz I'm lazy Smile I'm cutting open a shipping container, saws are great on the vertical cuts, but transversing the corrugation for horizontal cuts is a pain with a saw.

I also have bad mojo with saws. Plus I love playing with the plasma cutter.

a regular torch with a plate tip would be easyer

not sure what the amperage is on that type of equipment but... I am sure you'd need a heavy duty generator to power it.
Wow, so, you gonna be living in a shipping container? 40'? Might consider stacking them or having 4-6 of them and build a real nice home.

Good Luck!
