Paint colors - Hotzcatz - 10-29-2007 Having two dogs with their own door handles at the bottom of the door and with painted floors means it can be difficult to keep the floors clean during rainy season. Yesterday I made up some mud from backyard dirt and "painted" it on some cardboard. After it dried, I took that to Ace Hardware and they scanned it under their paint matching scanner to get paint the exact shade of the backyard dirt. Ha! At the moment there is only half of one room painted but as soon as it dries, we will see if the paint match matches. There are all sorts of interesting possibilities with that paint matching scanner. Maybe garden furniture the exact shade of your favorite roses? Walls to match the curtains? Paint to match your dinnerware? This could be fun! RE: Paint colors - David M - 10-29-2007 Thanks for the chuckle David Ninole Resident RE: Paint colors - Kapohocat - 10-30-2007 I know isnt that cool??? I was looking for the perfect color of pinkish-brown. I was drinking a MC Donald's choco shake... Viola! The perfect color - I took my drink in and they matched the brown! I used it for the trim of my house with a soft sea shell pinkish beige for the field color! it was perfect! Course that was long before seaside bob came along! RE: Paint colors - Hotzcatz - 10-31-2007 Dirt colored floors are working out really well so far. Wet footprints show up since they are darker than the dried mud color of the paint but once they dry, the dog prints are almost invisible. Yay! Not that they won't need to be mopped frequently during rainy season, but now the dog prints will blend in between moppings. The dirt is a nice color, sort of a medium yellowish brown with a hint of red. It goes nice with the pale blue walls and white trim. The pale blue is a really light shade of the willow ware dishes so eventually we hope to have a color coordinated kitchen. RE: Paint colors - mella l - 11-03-2007 This is a great idea, so creative! Glad it was a success for you and thanks for sharing this bit of ingenuity! mella l |
