Aloha, Richard. If you search and research some of the old threads on Punaweb, you will find a lot of discussion on various subdivisions. In general, lower priced subdivisions tend to have drawbacks such as remote location, bad roads, high crime, etc. In the particular case of Nanawale, the lots are relatively small by Puna standards and the area once had a bad reputation for drugs and crime. This latter factor had improved dramatically, and the area has a lot of nice new homes and community improvement efforts that have drawn positive attention. I know several people who live there and love it.

Cheers,
Jerry

We built a home and live in Ainapua which is the back half of Tiki Gardens. Paved roads, regular electric, rain catchment (plenty of rain). About 25 miles from Hilo. Lots are 65'x135'. CCR's not really inforced to much but may be in the future. Far enough away from 130 to not be noisy. Lots going for $9000-$20ish.

Thanks for all the answers..appreciated.....Oh to go along with the topic I have a small portable woodmizer sawmill.. Do you think that would be useful over there?. I mean are there lots with trees you could use to build your own house with like I did here in Canada?
