minimum size dwelling required to be permitted - StillHope - 01-21-2008 Aloha, everyone! I have one more question to the forum. Does anyone know the minimum size of the house to be permitted? The HOA of Kalapana Sea View told me that the association doesn't have a minimum size requirement, but it has to comply with the current building code. The building department is very difficult to reach over the phone. All I know that this month a new building code is going to be adopted. RE: minimum size dwelling required to be permitted - Hotzcatz - 01-21-2008 Read the Uniform Building Code as regards to room sizes and such. An "Efficiency Dwelling Unit" is about as small as you can go for the minimum size for a dwelling. I forget the exact square footage, but you have a studio with separate bathroom and closet, I think were the requirements. 1997 Uniform Building Code as amended by Hawaii County is what all the rules are based on. It is online on the Hawaii County website, I think. |
