What kind of roofing material is the best if you don't have a catchment?
I had the plans which were just modified.I found out that the roof is metal.I am going to have a thermal barrier.
Any cons/pros on metal roof and other options?

Metal roofs are durable and have a fairly long track record. What is worth considering in a metal roof is the final coating on the exterior skin. If you assume that the base metal ia a good quality rust resistant type like Galvalumeā„¢ the top coating is most often an enamel paint.

There are now new coatings referred to as "Cool Roofs" in which the exterior coating is not paint but a liquid ceramic coating applied like paint. Being ceramic it deflects the heat rather than absorbs. Once it was only available in white.... and white will be the most reflective but the ceramic coating are now available in other colors too.

And then...

My company sells srtuctural insualted metal roof panels. These have a white pre finished underside and rigid foam in the middle with a hi rib metal (painted) exterior. These do not need rafters and can provide a finished ceiling in one pass..... besy suited for vaulted ceiling designs and most efficient in gable and shed styles of roof. They come precut and there is, essentially, no waste and less labor an material.

Thank you,Rob.Does the plans need to be changed if the regular metal roof is going to be changed for the one your company sells?
