Bosch on demand water heaters - DickWilson - 09-28-2008 Has anyone had any experience with the Bosch on demand propane water heaters? My boy tells me they've been putting them in the homes he's building in Hualilai and Kukio. Just trying to find out if anyone has any experience with them on PW? dick wilson RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - leilaniguy - 09-28-2008 I have 2, they work fine. RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - DickWilson - 09-28-2008 Leilaniguy; Do they provide hot water pretty much immeadiately? and what happens if there is demand from 2 area's, IE shower and dishwasher, etc? dick wilson RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - loffelkopffl - 09-29-2008 i've been using one now for over 10 years, only had to replace the pilot light nozzel once($10)don't have a dishwasher so can't answer your question RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - Bob Orts - 09-29-2008 You have to match the output to use. They are not a one-size fits all. You can get one unit that may heat enough water for a shower and sink, or you can get a unit that heats 3 showers, a dishwasher, and a cloths washer - it's all in matching the size to the needs. RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - DickWilson - 09-29-2008 I've been looking at the 2700 E model, supposed to handle 2 major loads at any one time. Of course thats what their add claims. Thats why I wanted the real world input I'm getting from Ya'll. dick wilson RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - Bullwinkle - 09-29-2008 I own a bosch "big unit" on the mainland... works well, it was pricey however, almost 1k$ and requires a standing pilot - off grid. Out here I tried 2 of the chinese knock offs they are 10 liter (2.5 gal) per minute units, less than $200 (3 year warranty $20) each from fleabay. I use one to feed the outside shower on the lanai, the other supplies the laundry and kitchen and bath... these units have igniters powered by 2 d cells - no wiring hookups needed its been six months or so - no issues RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - DickWilson - 09-29-2008 Bullwinkle; The one we're looking at is electronic ignition, no standing pilot. Ya, they're real proud of them, that's for sure, but I'm hoping that the savings over Helco rates will offset some of the cost. Plus the 10 yr warranty on the heat exchanger. Does require 120 service but I can live with that. dick wilson RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - Hotzcatz - 09-29-2008 We have the electronic ignition unit which doesn't require any power at all. It has a waterwheel activated piezo-electric starter. There is an electric cord, too, but I don't know what that's for since I never bothered to look. Maybe a heater to keep it from freezing in the winter, do you suppose? We bought ours from Sauces and Propane in Honokaa since they gave us a trade-in discount on our old Paloma. RE: Bosch on demand water heaters - Kapohocat - 09-29-2008 What is the deal?? I am really curious. SB & I had two different on demands in two houses. And we hated them both. Cold hot cold hot. (on catchment with pressure tanks). Is the issue that they just werent sized right? All along we tinkered with them and tried to adjust them and still flucuated... |
