Paint as preservative! - gtill - 10-01-2008 What would be anyones take on painting a wood foundation before erecting the structure? I mean everything from the 4x4 posts, beams joists etc. Particularily the end cuts, so no raw wood is exposed below the floor (would include the floor bottom). Up here 3000' +, rot seems to be the biggest problem, termites are not common(yet). I'd be using the borate treated wood, and mold resistant paint! Any comments? RE: Paint as preservative! - Bullwinkle - 10-01-2008 I have had the same thought.... look into "marine anti fouling paint" has copper oxide (arsenic) as the active ingredient, let em try to munch through that! |
