An old Land Rover going north... - Jared I - 04-07-2006

I was going south Kilauea when series 2a 109 SW, pastel green with a limestone top, roof rack and tire on the hood was going north. Anyone know who the owner is? I am bringing my S2a 109 Land Rover ambulance in a couple months. Just looking for another series rover owner. If you are still befuddled about the type of vehicle, it looks like an old 4x4 that should be on the african plains with Marlin Perkins behind the wheel.

Thanks

Jared Ivy

If you know of any other series on the east side of the island is please chime in.

There are a few Landie owners here, including myself (Freelander) but nobody ever organized any gettogethers yet.

John,

I have owned all sorts of Land Rovers from several series including the 109 ambulance I have now, to a 110 (1985 not defender), a 1973 Rangie 2dr, a D-90, a discovery and a freelander (wife's). We just sold our freelander before moving here. I am already looking at another S2a 5dr wagon to bring over. Soon as the ambulance gets here its going in for some restoration I am change out the engine for a MB diesel. I would love to do some greenlaning with other rover owners. Isn't there a british club here on the island?

The wife is currently waiting on the new FJ Cruiser from Toyota.

John, who does your maintenance?

Jared

I don't know of any British Club on the island. (There was a guy who tried to organize a Mini Club a while back though.) I get my Landie serviced at the Big Island Honda.

Watch out, John, my understanding is that the service contract between Land Rover and Honda has expired. A friend had a Land Rover (still in the warranty period) and suffered a major failure. When he went to Big Island Honda they told him "oh, we don't have the service contract for those anymore".

You are absolutely correct John, they don't do warranty work anymore (since 1/1/2006) but they still do repair the Land Rovers, you just have to pay. Smile
