Livestock vet needed - jerry - 05-07-2007 I need a livestock vet in the Puna area. The ones I know about are in Kona or Waimea. I will check at Dell's and Miranda's but thought someone here may have some advice. I had three Dwarf Nigerian goats and now I have 5 with two more expected. That and a lot of worming medicine, aren't goats susceptible to worms? They are small enough you could carry them to the vet if necessary? Otherwise, I think Skip Pease does house calls. He is a good vet, inexpensive (no fancy office to charge folks for) and he has an X-ray machine. I don't know if he does goats, though, but you could call and ask him. RE: Livestock vet needed - jade - 05-12-2007 Hi Jerry, I have two Toggenburg/Nubian does. I just got them. I haven't found a vet. that handles goats yet either. My neighbor says there is a vet in Kurtistown that handles goats. I will find out the name and let you know. I would be interested too if you find one that you like. Congrats on all of your kids. Jade RE: Livestock vet needed - pslamont - 05-12-2007 Try Dr. Seska at Kea'au veteinary clinic... Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! RE: Livestock vet needed - puna_bound - 05-30-2007 This makes me want to move from the mainland to Puna TODAY! How cute! I don't know what a dwarf Nigerian goat is, but I want one! Do you have these for their milk or are they mostly pets? quote: Jimmy RE: Livestock vet needed - Carolann R - 05-30-2007 Oh my gawd...I want one! They are so cute! Don't eat them, please. I would get too attached to the creatures! I might be able to do a fish or prawn pond, as attachment is a bit less likely. Jimmy RE: Livestock vet needed - Hotzcatz - 05-30-2007 Aloha Jerry, A friend of mine is bringing in some Dwarf Nigerian goats from the mainland. I haven't seen them yet, but she sent pictures and they are really cute. She is getting them as milking goats, I think. Will you be breeding more of them? Perhaps at some time you may want to cross breed with hers to get wider genetic lines. A hui hou, Cathy |
