I'll try and make it too. Mitzi RE: How about a plant/Cutting exchange or Share - emorata - 05-24-2007 aloha, for anyone that is planning on coming to the punaweb exchange - if you plan on bringing some cuttings, please bring them in a bucket of water so they will not wilt in the outside area while we are socializing. same with starts and divisions - you can wrap them in watered towels and plastic so they can stay moist. if anyone can bring some extra plastic bags that would be excellent for others wrapping-i will not have any handy since, i'm flying in the night before. kindly, noel RE: How about a plant/Cutting exchange or Share - Les C - 05-24-2007 You may want to carefully examine cuttings and plants for coqui eggs, larvae, and other critters. No need to spread anything, even if you already have some at your place. RE: How about a plant/Cutting exchange or Share - scuba_man7 - 05-25-2007 Good call, Les! On that note - does anyone know of an online reference for common Puna pests and how to prevent the spread of them? Would be a good reference for newbies and wannabes, like me. RE: How about a plant/Cutting exchange or Share - Jeffhale - 05-25-2007 While i am not totally and completely up on my CROAKY ( only good coqui is a croak-ed 'CROAKY') frog jazz, but i found their eggs yesterday.. Surprising was that they were under a rock which the eggs were at least a foot below the surface.. Seems to me they need dark, humid, not so airy place to develop.. I guess mother squeezed herself threw some very tight spaces wiggling threw dirt, soil and decaying matter, well below the surface to place them eggs in 'just the right spot'.. To bad i came along. Not to leave out, she took her last hop just minutes before i found her stash, whilst i was cleaning up some leafy and decomposing mess and rearranging some rocks. So, eggs might not be a big problem. However, on a side note, we replanted some small plants while on our lot and brought them home the other night, (just in case somebody else, thought we'd left them, 'free' for them (thieves))) and what you know they's a CROAKY, under a leaf, begging for forgiveness.. Saying something like; it wasn't his fault he was here, but great, great, great, great grandfather's.. Since he was such a adventurous critter, direct decedent from the first line, Apparently hopped on our plant after potting it, we squished him just them same.. RE: How about a plant/Cutting exchange or Share - emorata - 06-01-2007 Just as a reminder our punaweb party potluck/garden share is this saturday from 1-3pmish...please bring some chairs if you can. i'm located at 15-2714 he e street, hawaiian beaches...when you pass Da Store, make a left on north puni mauka, then left on hee....the house is a two story plantation style with lava rock base level. hope to see everyone there. |
