Sour Star Fruit - wjbillock - 10-25-2007 The fruit on my star fruit tree is sour. They're all a golden yellow like I've seen them at the market. Is there a trick (fertilizer or something) that makes the fruit taste sweeter? Do I have to pick and wait a few days? Help! "What? Me Worry?" - Alfred E. Nueman RE: Sour Star Fruit - wjbillock - 10-25-2007 Thanks Carie! But it also says that the tastes between the two are hardly distinguishable. I've tasted sweeter lemons than these! LOL "What? Me Worry?" - Alfred E. Nueman RE: Sour Star Fruit - Mitzi M - 10-25-2007 Wait until the outer ridges have turned slightly brown to harvest them. This happens in a pretty short time and the difference in taste is amazing! If they're sour they might be under ripe. A woman I met from the Philippines told me her family grills them, which carmelizes the sugar and makes them even sweeter. Good luck! |
