termites in mulch? - DoryGray - 02-25-2008

Someone warned me about getting mulch from the dump, they said there could be termites in it? Does anyone know about this?

THE MULCH PILES AT THE HILO DUMP BREAK DOWN SO MUCH THAT THEY ARE STEAMING HOT WHEN THE LOADER DIGS IN TO IT. NO TERMITES CAN SURVIVE THAT HEAT . BEWARE OF STUPID RUMORS IN PUNA

And if the mulch is not broken down to the extent that you want for spreading, you'll need to let it "cook" onsite for a while anyway. I think that would help too.
